Some diners mention that certain dishes, such as Chicken Egusi, may not suit every palate. A few reviews highlight experiences with oil-rich meals that might sit heavily on the stomach, leading to personal preferences shaping their feedback. The wait time for food can sometimes be longer than expected, particularly during busy lunch hours, which might leave very hungry diners feeling disappointed. Inconsistent experiences have arisen regarding certain dishes, with some not meeting the high expectations set by glowing reviews. Pricing, while generally viewed as reasonable, has been noted to be on the higher side for some dishes—specifically for smaller appetites.
While the community vibe and welcoming atmosphere receive praise, some customers feel the spacious dining area doesn't always attract the crowds it deserves, which might lead to an atmosphere that's quieter than expected.
A true hidden gem! The food here is absolutely incredible, and it's a mystery why this spacious and comfortable spot isn't packed on weekends. While it's not cheap, it's definitely worth the price for the quality and quantity you get. Try 1 Egusi (easy for 2 people). Really tasty African food 🤌🏽
Now I understand all the 5 star reviews. Food is indescribably amazing. Robust flavor and taste!! Small issue I called regarding and the owner drove all the way to my house to correct it. I’ve never in my life experienced such service like this. Can’t wait to frequent and try all your wonderful dishes!
I got the chicken egusi. It was my first time trying egusi, so I admit it may just not have been for me. It tasted extremely gamey, not at all like chicken, and very very oil-rich, which sat heavily on my stomach. Maybe they cook the chicken egusi and the assorted meats egusi in the same pot? It took about 25 - 35 min for my order to come out, so it may be made fresh rather than pre-made. I ate about 10 bites (it was expensive and I thought it would grow on me) and had to freeze it to save for later for my s/o in case they would like it so it doesn't go to waste. I know egusi goes bad quickly. However, I did notice a lot of people ordering wings from this place while I waited for my order. I intend to come back and try them because I have every confidence that their wings are something I would love!! For the price I paid, the portion size of egusi and the meats and seasonings were definitely substantial.
I had the chicken shawarma salad for lunch. It was definitely an abundant portion and so very delicious!
This has been one of my favorite restaurants since freshman year of college. Amazing food, great people, and just an overall outstanding experience. I like to eat here between classes and mentally reset. Highly recommend
I was actually quite shy and wanted to eat here for a while, but when I wandered close to the entrance and stared at the menu through the glass the chef noticed and beckoned me to come in. The staff are very communicative and friendly, the atmosphere of the interior is pleasant, and the food is absolutely delicious. I am absolutely coming back for more; the food is worth every dollar and penny I've spent with my dining dollars!
Absolutely Fabulous. Thank you so very much. Creamy grits and fresh shrimp. I cried literally. Food is that good. 🥰
